Iran’s FM Amir-Abdollahian Laid to Rest at Abdul Azim Holy Shrine

IQNA – Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who died in a helicopter crash on May 19, was laid to rest at the holy mausoleum of Hazrat Abdul Azim Hassani (AS) in Rey, south of Tehran.

The burial service was held at the holy shrine Thursday and was attended by a number of officials and a large number of people.  

Among those attending were Acting President Mohammad Mokhber and Acting Foreign Minister Ali Baqeri Kani.

After circumambulation around the holy shrine, the body of the martyred foreign minister was buried at the mausoleum next to the graves of two other martyrs.

A commemoration ceremony was held for Amir-Abdollahian earlier in the day at the Iranian Foreign Ministry in Tehran.

His colleagues and a number of foreign dignitaries attended the ceremony.

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, and their accompanying delegation lost their lives after the helicopter carrying them crashed in the northwestern province of East Azarbaijan on May 19, 2024. Their bodies were found on Monday after an extensive night-long search operation.
